Eu Settlement Scheme (Settled and pre-settles status) 


  • You can apply for an EU Settlement Scheme if you are an EU, EEA or a Swiss citizen or you have a family that is.
  • You then continue to live in the UK after 30 June 2021.
  • If your application is successful, you will have either a settle OR pre-settled status. Which status you get depends on the amount of time you have lived in the UK.
  • Note: If you are an Irish citizen or have indefinite leave to remain you may be able to live in the UK without applying.
  • The Eu Settlement Scheme is open to those to meet the criteria and can apply now, however, you will need to apply before 30 June 2021.

UK Vist Visa


Standard Visitor visa


  • You can apply for this visa if you wish to visit the UK to see family or friends OR for a holiday OR for business purposes OR for sports/creative events OR to for medical treatment.
  • Duration of stay: 6 months


PLEASE NOTE: You cannot work whilst on your stay in most cases, if you wish study then you can do so only up to 30 days (this should not be the main reason however for your visit).

 

Short – Term Study Visa


  • You can apply for this visa if you going to be studying a short course OR training.
  • Duration: 6 months OR 11 months


PLEASE NOTE: You cannot work whilst your stay BUT you can study.



Private medical treatment        


  • You can apply for this visa if you wish or need to receive private medical treatment or to donate an organ.
  • Duration: 6-11 months


Work in the UK


General work visa (Tier 2)


you can apply for this type of visa if you have been presented with job in the UK OR if you are not a member of the EEA or Switzerland.   

Sponsorship – you will need to be employed by someone who is licensed in order to apply. You will be given what’s called a “Certificate of Sponsorship” from your sponsor. This certificate will show that you qualify for the job that you have been hired for.

Duration: 3 years +


Intra-company Transfer Visa (Tier 2)


you can apply for this visa if your employer has offered you a job role based in  a UK branch whilst you are living overseas, you are not a member of the EEA or Switzerland or you meet the other eligibility requirements.

Sponsorship – you will need to be employed by someone who is licensed in order to apply. You will be given what’s called a “Certificate of Sponsorship” from your sponsor. This certificate will show that you qualify for the job that you have been hired for.

There are two types of Intra-company Transfer visa: Long – term staff and a Graduate Trainee.

Health surcharge also applies with this visa and is a part of the application.

Duration: 3 years +

         

Minister of Religion visa (Tier 2) 


You can apply for this visa if you have been presented with a job in a faith community for instance as a minister of religion, if you are not a member of the EEA or Switzerland and if you meet the other eligibility requirements.

Sponsorship – you will need to be employed by someone who is licensed in order to apply. You will be given what’s called a “Certificate of Sponsorship” from your sponsor. This certificate will show that you qualify for the job that you have been hired for.

Health surcharge also applies with this visa and is a part of the application.

Duration: Maximum of 3 years and 1 month, however, you can apply for a visa extension but that must be done before the visa expiry date.


Sportsperson visa (Tier 2) 


you can apply for this visa if you are a leading sportsperson or a coach, if you are not a member of the EEA or Switzerland and if you meet the other eligibility requirements. 

You will be given what’s called a “Certificate of Sponsorship” from your sponsor to prove that they are the ones who are sponsoring you.

Health surcharge also applies with this visa and is a part of the application.

Duration: Up to 3 years, can extend visa to a maximum period of 6 years.

Family visas (apply, extend or switch)



You can apply for this visa if you wish to live with a family member in the UK.


  • If you wish to apply from outside the UK you can do so with your, spouse, child, parent, fiancé, or a relative (offer long-term care).
  • If you wish to apply from within the UK you can apply for an extension if you are in the UK already (on a family visa). Also, if, for instance, you came to the UK on a different type of visa you may be able to switch to a family visa with you spouse, child or parent.
  • Health surcharge also applies with this visa and is a part of the application.
  • Time scale: Applying from outside the UK will take up to 12 weeks for a decision to be made. Applying from inside the UK will take up to 8 weeks – if you wish a faster decision you may have an option to pay £800 extra for a priority service.


Duration: You can extend or switch at any time before your current permission to stay in the UK expires.  You must live in the UK for a certain amount of time before you’re eligible for settlement (‘indefinite leave to remain’)

British Citizenship


  • You can apply for what is known as ‘naturalisation’ in order for you to become a British citizen. You can be eligible in more than way and can choose which route you take to apply.
  • You can apply under the following routes: if you are married to or you are in a civil partnership with a British citizen (must have lived in the UK for at lease 3 years, to apply if you wish to take this route, you must also have an ILR, settled status under EU scheme or a permanent residence document.
  • If you have Indefinite leave to remain (have lived in the UK for the last 5 years). This can only be done if you have lived in the UK for the last 12 months after receiving your ILR.
  • If you have a permanent residence status/settled status. In order for you to apply for citizenship you should have lived in the UK for the last 12 months after receiving your permanent residence/settled status.
  • You can also apply if you have a British parent, if you hold another type of British national, if you are stateless or if you have previously given up your citizenship.
  • You must be able to provide two key requirements to apply: Proof of your English language and must do the Life in the UK test.
